I’m like Luke from Star Wars, I’ve got the force
And if you want to see speed, watch me in a Porsche
A force is a push or pull on an object, of course
This is evident when you open or close doors
Or when you put a couple magnets on the floor
Then the rules of attraction are yours to explore
See the ends of magnets are called poles
There is North and South, they have the greatest pull
Two North or South poles push away and repel
But North and South, opposite poles, attract quite well
That means they pull together, stick together like friends
The unit and measure of force is called a Newton

Let’s get moving, that’s called motion
Do you know what keeps water in the ocean?
It’s called gravity, a force that pulls
All things towards the center of Earth, it’s cool
Because it affects weight, speed, and friction
How fast something moves is the definition
Of speed, go ahead, rev your engines
Hit the brakes! Opposing forces stop you with friction

The force of an object due to gravity is weight, wait!
What? Okay, let me explain
Gravity pulls things to the center of the Earth
The more mass something has, more gravity exerts
Its force, which gives things weight, makes them heavy
Let’s keep moving, but we talked about motion already
How about friction, which slows things down
When objects rub against each other, it makes heat and sound
Speed and direction can be affected
By unbalanced forces, those that act against
Or provide resistance are opposing
Balanced forces apply equal strength on objects both ways
