Life cycles, go round and round
Like bicycle wheels, no slowing down

Plants produce seeds, then germination
Leads to seedlings, at maturation
Adult plants flower, so pollination
Takes place, seeds are made at fertilization
Plants produce seeds, then germination
Leads to seedlings, at maturation
Adult plants flower, so pollination
Takes place, seeds are made at fertilization

A plant’s genes are inside a plant’s seeds
Genes are parts of DNA passed to offspring
They determine sizes and shapes of leaves
What type of fruit they will produce and how tall they will be
Seeds begin to sprout during germination
They need water, air, and sun for the next life stages
Young plants called seedlings claim their places
By rooting in the soil to absorb the basics
They grow big and strong, flowers are made
Then it’s up to nature to pollinate
Insects pick up pollen and carry it away
To fertilize other plants and the cycle replays

Insects undergo metamorphosis
They hatch from eggs to become nymphs
Egg, larva, pupa, to adult insect
That’s the life of bugs, it’s not complex

What are your favorite insects? Spiders or beetles?
I bet you don’t like to hang out with mosquitos
Some bugs are flashy as tuxedos, some live incognito
They can be as big as your hand or skinny as needles
Genes from parents grow in the eggs they lay
And hatch wingless, wormlike insects, called larvae
As they get bigger they enter the pupa stage
That’s when caterpillars go into their cocoon to change
Into butterflies, it’s a beautiful switch
The life cycle of an insect is metamorphosis
Young bugs that transform are called nymphs
Some insects change completely, some change a little bit

Animals reproduce lots of ways
They pass along instincts and hereditary traits
Parents teach babies how to behave
And survive, so they can reproduce one day
Animals reproduce lots of ways
They pass along instincts and hereditary traits
Parents teach babies how to behave
And survive, so they can reproduce one day

The most complex kingdom belongs to animals
They reproduce in different ways, for example
Those that give birth to their young are mammals
Knowledge for animals comes from different channels
Some things we’re born with, they’re called instincts
They are basic survival skills that help meet our needs
Hereditary traits are made when genes are in sync
Qualities passed from parents to their offspring
All of that is made during fertilization
When reproductive cells join its a celebration
